Attention Ugandan Bloggers

I am very impressed with the rate at which Ugandans are embracing Web 2.0. We're talking blogging, social networks, photosharing, music portals, online communities etc. Basically the revolution of user driven content is not passing us by.

You have the likes of Dennis Matanda, Ernest Bazanye, Jackfruity (not exactly a Ugandan, and loathes ffene), Nadayada(?) , Citizen Uganda, among others. Some are deep musings on politics and global influences, others are more technical, while some are just plain hilarious, like Two Weak Dudes.

I believe that if we all continue to use the internet to share information, express our views, interact with friends (and enemies) and most importantly, learn from each other, then Uganda, and Africa will see an unprecedented increase in services and infrastructure provided by the Internet Service Providers, and that in turn will boost the financial and intellectual economies of the countries concerned.

In this respect, I'd like to ask bloggers (Ugandan bloggers preferably) if we can support you in some way. One idea I have is subsidizing prices on some of our hosting solutions and installing for you a blog of your choice (depending on the technical implications, we install Wordpress by default), and doing all that domain name registration stuff for you. I think blogging say as www.dennismatanda.com beats blogging as  http://dennismatanda.blogspot.com any given day. Just my two pence.

This is an offer only for bloggers, so please let us know how we can help.

Cheers.

Well? that would be brilliant? The subsidized pricing and all? You know what? come over for our Happy Hour? 7pm at Mateos this Thursday and we could bounce ideas back and forth till we figure this thing out.?.?. and why do i have a question mark in front of my link? They are not very aesthetic, those question marks, are they?

The Happy Hour thing sounds like a plan. We'll endeavour to make there.

And yes, the question marks do beg an explanation.

The 2008 Annual Uganda Best of Blogs awards are coming up -- I'd love to work with you on some kind of partnership for that. Also curious to see how Happy Hour turned out...?
